AirCare Requirements For Collector Vehicles

Example 1

If a vehicle was granted Collector vehicle status before September 1, 2000, vehicle ownership has not changed, and the vehicle is now being licensed as a Collector vehicle . . .

. . . an AirCare inspection is not required.

Example 2

If a vehicle is currently licensed with regular plates, and the vehicle has passed a recent AirCare inspection (expiry date is not in the past), and the vehicle owner is now applying for Collector vehicle status . . .

. . . an AirCare inspection is not required.

Example 3

If you are applying for Collector status on or after Sep 1, 2000, and the vehicle will be licensed in ICBC rating territories D, E, or H . . .

. . . a passed AirCare inspection is required. ICBC will give you a letter to take to the AirCare inspection centre so they are aware of your Collector application and your vehicle will receive the appropriate emissions test.

However, if the vehicle’s last AirCare inspection report is still valid (expiry date is not in the past), a new AirCare inspection is not required.
