AirCare Offers the Public Free Vehicle Information
(Mar-16-2004)
Burnaby, BC – Motorists can now obtain the detailed emission test history of a vehicle and odometer readings on the new, enhanced AirCare website. The service is offered without charge to those who visit the website at www.aircare.ca.
“Motorists looking to purchase a used vehicle will likely want to check that odometer readings are consistent and ensure that the vehicle has passed the AirCare inspection before they buy”, says Martin Lay, Chief Executive Officer of Pacific Vehicle Testing Technologies, the AirCare administrators.
All a person needs is the vehicle’s B.C. registration number or Vehicle Identification Number (VIN). Once the information is entered, motorists will also be able to determine whether the vehicle has passed or failed its previous emissions tests.
Another new feature of the AirCare website is a comprehensive section on emission-related repairs designed to remove some of the mystery and uncertainty related to AirCare failures and how the automotive industry addresses repairs. One of the important new items included in this section is a complete list of AirCare Certified Repair Centres, which contains a performance rating that motorists can use to assist in choosing an AirCare Certified repair facility.
“Recent focus group testing revealed that motorists would find this type of information very useful,” says Lay. “This data will assist motorists to make informed buying and/or repair decisions.”
The performance ratings, which are updated monthly, provide the number of successful emissions repairs conducted at all Certified Repair Centres.
Other updates to the new site include improvements to user navigation, important information about air pollution and the impact of vehicle emissions on health, regional air quality and the environment.
The site can be viewed at www.aircare.ca.
