This section provides general information on the testing of individual components that may cause excess emissions. Because there can be many variations in components from vehicle to vehicle, the technician should refer to the manufacturer's recommended procedures and specifications when performing tests.
Unfortunately, some of the concepts here are quite technical. The intention is not to teach you how to diagnose emissions defects but rather to make it a little less intimidating when discussing repairs with your diagnostic technician.
